Syrian Ministry of Economy: WIPO Agrees on Translating Nice Agreement into Arabic

DAMASCUS - During the meetings of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Syrian Ministry of Economy and Trade has agreed with the WIPO on translating Nice Agreement (International Classification of Goods and Services) into Arabic, according to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). 

This is the first time Syria carries out such a huge and significant project of the WIPO as the translation will be adopted in all the Arab countries taking into consideration the differences between them, according to the Director of Commercial and Industrial Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade Jamil al-Asa'ad. 

According to what was agreed upon, the WIPO will indicate on its website to the Syrian efforts exerted in this project. 

Syria and the WIPO also agreed on establishing the Intellectual Property Academy in Syria in cooperation with the bodies concerned, in addition to training its cadre at the WIPO headquarters.
Ten persons will be also dispatched to train on teaching property courses in Geneva.
Asa'ad expected that the academy will be established by the beginning of 2012.
