LES-Arab Countries Holds Its Annual Meeting with an Initiative to Invest in Technology

AMMAN - The Licensing Executives Society-Arab Countries (LES-AC) held its general assembly and board of directors meetings at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business Forum.

The meeting headed by Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, LES-AC president tackled the activities and programs organized by the Society at the national and international levels and focused on the road to success through information and communication technology saying that there is a will by the Licensing Executives Society - Arab Countries to supervise the establishment of a Licensing Executives Society - Africa as Africa does not have any presence in the activities of the Society in spite of the importance and potentials of this continent.

The meeting focused on investment in technology as LES-AC is working with ESCWA Technology Center/the economic and social committee for West Asia, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization and El Hassan Business Park in Jordan to launch the Technology commercialization tour Initiative.

The Initiative aims at benefiting from the creative and innovative potentials at the ESCWA countries by linking holders of creative projects who seek for licensing, partnerships, financing and marketing with investors in the technology field in the region.

The administrative report stated that cooperation among the four parties has been decided to carry out the Technology commercialization tour in four countries to be hosted by:

• King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in KSA
• The Research, Development and Innovation Program (RDI) in Egypt
• Industrial Research Institute in Lebanon
• Bedaya Network Jordan

LES – AC president proposed to integrate the project submitted by member of LES-AC Board Dr. Mohammad Al Ansari on creativity in KSA within this pioneering project.

The attendees were also briefed on the proposals sent by the LES International President-Elect Kevin Nachtrab related to LESI’s performance and work.

After going through the Society’s annual report, the assembly discussed and endorsed the budget of the year 2011 which showed a deficit that was covered by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh.
 
The Licensing Executives Society-Arab Countries (LES-AC) is considered the first Arab regional society specialized in licensing and technology transfer issues, and is a non-profit society that seeks to develop and educate the business community of the economic significance of licensing, protection of Intellectual Property Rights, technology transfer and promotion of investment in research and development.
