Jordan Ministry of Culture and TAG-Org Sign MoU

AMMAN - In conformity with their mission to promote culture on the national and global levels, Jordan Ministry of Culture and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Ministry’s headquarters to strengthen joint cooperation between the two entities.

The MoU was signed by HE Minister of Culture Dr. Barakat Awajan and TAG-Org Chairman HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.

Following the signing ceremony, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said:"We are really happy to join forces with the Ministry of Culture in various fields. We see that it is part of our duty to support culture in Jordan, a vision we share with the Ministry at all levels. TAG-Org will work on establishing four knowledge centers: in Karak, Maan, Tafeeleh and one in Ma’daba as per the directives of HM King Abdullah to support the South of the Kingdom.”  

Meanwhile, HE Dr. Awajan said:" This agreement reflects the Ministry’s vision in the development of cultural activities in cooperation and partnership with a national institution that has a long tradition in institutional hard work.”     

In accordance with the MoU, the two parties agreed to establish a joint taskforce to examine the potential of future cooperation in several activities and services: Establishing the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Center in Maan (in the southern part of the Kingdom) similar to Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Center in Amman. TAG-Knowledge Center in Maan shall be accredited to offer the TAG-Cambridge IT Skills Diploma and English language programs.

The two parties will also examine cooperation in the field of documentation and e-archiving.

In addition, the Ministry’s employees shall be invited to take part in courses and seminars organized by TAG-Org and its affiliate companies free of charge whenever it is possible.


The MoU also stipulated that TAG-Org shall conduct the audit of the Ministry’s website in terms of design and streamline and presents the report to the Ministry to take the necessary actions to develop and update its website.

The two parties also agreed to hold joint cultural activities to tackle new themes in cooperation with international organizations such as the Confucius Institute and the British Council.

The possibility of launching a national cultural conference will be also examined by the taskforce in addition to cooperation to develop and launch TAGI-PEDIA.

Moreover, the two parties shall examine the potential of conducting a similar project to the one recently launched in Deir Alla (Central Ghor) representing cooperation between local societies, USAID, the International Youth Foundation (IYF), the British Council and TAG-Org. The taskforce shall draft a proposed project to establish similar centers in the southern areas of the Kingdom that aim at supporting local communities and turning them into productive ones.
