Abu-Ghazaleh Hosts Ceremony for Graduates of the NAZAHA Project’s "Your Right to Know..Your Right to Demand” Training Program

AMMAN - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Member of the Royal Integrity Committee, offered his patronage to the graduation ceremony of participants in the activities of the training program, "You Right to Know … You Right to Demand", which was held at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum, and which is implemented by the NAZAHA Project that operates under the umbrella of Arab Partnership Fund, funded by the British government and run by Faith Matters.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Mustafa al-Rawashdeh MP, head of the Integrity Committee at the Parliament.
The training program aims to build the capacity of non-profit associations so that they can play their role in the implementation of the Right to Information Law and raising the civil society's awareness of the importance of its demand for access to information freely through awareness campaigns. The training is offered to members of civil society organizations as part of a broader program of activities that aims to inform citizens and society of the importance of their role in establishing the concepts of fairness and in using and promoting the Right to Information Law.
In his speech to graduates of the program and distinguished guests, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh discussed the findings obtained by the Royal Integrity Committee, stressing the importance of the implementation of the committee’s recommendations to increase transparency and integrity in Jordan. He also pointed out that the process of increasing integrity in Jordan is complementary, crowned with the Head of State's guidance and involving decision-makers, the Government, people's representatives and civil society.
Abu-Ghazaleh added that the Royal Integrity Committee was developed to serve the citizen as stated in the title of the program "Your Duty and Right to Know", explaining that if you do not know you right, you will not be able to perform your duty.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed hope that this course would only be the start and that the graduates would be the first elite to spread this noble message, through which those involved in the NAHAZA project would like to emphasize that integrity does not only rely on the outcomes of the Royal Integrity Committee, but also depends on society as a whole, which must exercise, and benefit from, its right. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the role and efforts of the NAZAHA Project Manager, Ms. Iman Abu Atta.
Dr Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that NAZAHA Project is consistent with His Majesty the King's directives that the findings of the Integrity commission produce a positive impact on society and the nation and eliminate the need for complaints through the prevention of corruption before this becomes difficult, if not impossible.
He said that His Majesty wishes the Royal Integrity Committee introduces the regulations, legislation and supervision to prevent corruption.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concluded by saying that this event opens up the opportunity to conduct dialogue on cooperation opportunities between civil society and the Government in order to increase the Jordanian citizens' opportunity to access information.
Project Manager and Lead Trainer with the NAZAHA Project, Ms. Iman Abu Atta comments that she has been enthused and inspired by the level of commitment demonstrated by members of civil society. She has noted that many across Jordan remain unaware of their right to request information from government departments, and adds that she is hopeful that, through the NAZAHA Project, Jordanian civil society will be successful in working together to promote and defend. the right to access information.
