Change in the Amounts of the Individual Fee in Bahrain - WIPO

GENEVA – From September 7, 2016, onwards, the amounts of the individual fee payable in respect of Bahrain will change, according to WIPO. 
 
The fee will be 1,710 Swiss francs for each class of goods or services, when designating Bahrain in an international application or subsequently.  Where the mark is a collective or certification mark, the amount of this fee will come to 2,105 Swiss francs. 
 
The same amounts will apply when renewing an international registration in which Bahrain has been designated.
 
For further information, please refer to Information Notice No. 23/2016 as follows:
 
1. The Government of Bahrain has notified to the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) a declaration modifying the amounts of the individual fee payable with respect to Bahrain under Article 8(7) of the Madrid Protocol. 

2. In accordance with Rule 35(2)(b) of the Common Regulations under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol, the Director General of WIPO has, after consultation with the Office of Bahrain, established the following new amounts, in Swiss francs, of the said individual fee:
  
Application or Subsequent Designation: 
–  for each class of goods or services  
 1,710 
  Where the mark is a collective or certification mark:   
–  for each class of goods or services 2,105
 
Renewal: 
–  for each class of goods or services  
 1,710 
  Where the mark is a collective or certification mark:   
–  for each class of goods or services   
 2,105
 
3. This change will take effect on September 7, 2016.  Therefore, these amounts will be payable where Bahrain:   
(a)  is designated in an international application which is received, or is deemed to have been received under Rule 11(1)(c), by the Office of origin on or after that date;  or  
(b)  is the subject of a subsequent designation which is received by the Office of the Contracting Party of the holder on or after that date, or is filed directly with the International Bureau of WIPO on or after that date;  or  
(c)  has been designated in an international registration which is renewed on or after that date.
