HARARE - Knowledge and skills in any field change regularly, making organizational success a moving target. This is why management development programs such as the Management Development Program launched at ARIPO on 9 April 2019, are vital to organizational success according to the official website of ARIPO.

The Program that was launched while ARIPO is in the middle of implementing its Value and Growth Transformation Strategic Plan 2016-2020, is crucial in the Organization achieving its strategic plan.

Through this strategy, ARIPO seeks to achieve a number of milestones through a well-constructed and sustainable transformation program. The plan is progressively changing the face of the Organization with regards to performance and culture.

The Program, which is targeted at senior staff, seeks to promote innovative and stimulating managerial skills among people with no formal management training to enable the organization to meet its strategic goals.   At the launch, participants were reminded that this was an opportunity to deal with contemporary issues within the global state. The ARIPO Director General, Mr. Fernando Dos Santos urged the trainees to take this chance to expand their managerial horizons in order for them to better appreciate the relevance and role of managers within and beyond ARIPO.

The Director of Advancement and Public Affairs at Africa University, Mr. Steven Chikozho, highlighted that the initiative was one of the many programs that the University was engaging in to improve how the public and the private sectors do their work. One of them is the Masters in Intellectual Property, in partnership with ARIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The MIP program, currently in its 12th year and so far produced 300 IP graduates in Africa.

Officially opening the training program, Africa University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Munashe Furusa, said, “We are confident that the Management Development Program will mirror the success of the MIP Program. Many thanks, to the Africa University Business Academy and ARIPO for developing this program. It is our hope that the intended objectives will be accomplished so that we can fulfill the mandate of this great Organization”.
