What: An innovation-based ranking of 142 countries produced by Cornell University, INSEAD, WIPO and Knowledge Partners. The GII has evolved into a valuable benchmarking tool to encourage private-public dialogue, including policy-makers, business leaders and other stakeholders (details below).

Where: Press Conference at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Salle III

(Journalists are also invited to the Official Global Launch of the GII as part of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOCOC) High-Level Segment, on July 1, 2013 at 12.00pm at the United Nations Office in Geneva.)

Background:

The Global Innovation Index, created in 2007, is a measurement of innovation capabilities and results in both emerging and industrialized countries in seven pillars: institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, and creative outputs.
