ST. PAUL, MN  - 3M, 3M Innovative Properties Co., and 3M Canada announced that they have settled a patent infringement lawsuit against Eurotex in Canada for infringing a 3M patent relating to reflective fire coat trim. A press release by 3M stated that Eurotex consented to an Order entered by the Federal Court in Ottawa, Canada stipulating that Eurotex pay 3M for past profits and issuing an injunction against Eurotex.

The injunction prohibits Eurotex from making, selling and distributing any products that would infringe 3M's Canadian Patent No. 2,188,141, including the products that Eurotex previously offered under the names TriViz, TrivizMyLite, and FireLiteC.

In a separate case, the Second Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai ruled on April 21, 2011 that Zhejiang Daoming Reflective Materials Company infringed 3M's Chinese Patent No. ZL95193042.7. The court ordered Daoming to cease the manufacture and sale of retroreflective materials infringing 3M's patent and ordered Daoming to pay damages for its past infringement. Daoming has appealed the Shanghai court's ruling and the enforcement of the judgment is suspended during the appeal process.
