HOLMDEL, NJ - Vonage Holdings Corp. announced in a press release the grant of US Pat. No. 8,265,083 entitled "Systems and methods of providing communications services." This invention allows a user of an IP telephony system to register additional telephony devices, including mobile phones that are associated with a different telephony system. The '083 patent was granted less than one year after it was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

The '083 patent protects Vonage's investment in its innovative and proprietary Vonage Extensions™ feature. With Extensions, Vonage customers can get the same unlimited international calling they enjoy at home from a mobile phone or any other line at no additional cost. Customers can also add a second Extension for just $4.99/mo. (plus taxes). Since Extensions launched last year, more than 600,000 Vonage customers have signed up, confirming the market demand for this service.

"Extensions represents Vonage's continued commitment to deliver value and flexibility to our customers," said Chief Legal Officer Kurt M. Rogers. "The grant of this patent and others in recent months confirms the innovative nature of Vonage's technological solutions and helps ensure that our rights in proprietary technologies are protected."

Vonage is a leading provider of communications services connecting people through cloud-connected devices worldwide.
