DUBAI - Tharawat Family Business Forum and the Family Business Governance Center (FBGC), Jordan, announced a collaborative partnership merging regional efforts to generate awareness on family business matters and to create a platform for dialogue and exchange for family-owned businesses in the MENA region.

 

It is estimated that family businesses make up between 70 and 90 per cent of GDP globally. In a fast growing market like the MENA region, the importance of family-owned businesses has gradually been recognised over the past decade and there is an increased focus on understanding the challenges they encounter. 

 

Dr. Hischam El Agamy, Executive Director, Tharawat Family Business Forum, said: “As a regional association, Tharawat is delighted to support and collaborate with national family business initiatives such as the FBGC. Today more than ever, family businesses are at the centre of economic performance, and their sustainability is crucial to our region. Together, our organizations will gain a better insight into the needs of business families and help us better serve family business members, the business community in Jordan, and the MENA region”.

Supporting multi-generational families in reaching longevity and growing their businesses in a sustainable way, together, FBGC and the Tharawat Family Business Forum will provide family businesses with opportunities to network with peers, access education programs, and best practices. Both organizations are non-for profit efforts, based on private-sector initiatives and share a strong belief in the strategic importance family firms. 

 

 

The Tharawat Family Business Forum was founded in 2006 as an independent, non-profit, private sector business network for Arabian family-owned companies. With around 80% of businesses in the Arab world being family-owned, their sustainability and growth is crucial for the region and its economy.

 

Tharawat supports the family business community by providing educational programs, thought-leadership, networking opportunities, and a platform for the inter-generational and inter-regional exchange of knowledge and experience.
