LOS ANGELES - ICANN announced in a press release 71 individuals applied to serve on the team that will review the New gTLD Program in relation to competition, consumer trust and consumer choice (CCT). Candidates hail from Bahrain, China, Kenya, Jamaica, Spain and many other countries. Their collective professional experience spans a variety of industries. Some are part of ICANN supporting organizations and advisory committees, while others volunteered as independent experts. The review is mandated by ICANN's Affirmation of Commitments.

https://www.icann.org/resources/reviews/aoc/cct/applications. Supporting organizations and advisory committees have until 14 December 2015 to review these materials and determine whether they would like to endorse certain candidates as representatives of their respective constituencies.

The composition of the CCT review team will be determined by ICANN's CEO and the chair of the Governmental Advisory Committee, as described in the call for volunteers. ICANN will provide the CEO and chair with the list of candidates, supporting documentation and endorsements. Expertise, geographic location and endorsements will all be taken into consideration when selecting the team.

ICANN's mission is to ensure a stable, secure and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer - a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world.
Without that coordination we wouldn't have one global Internet. ICANN was formed in 1998. It is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet's unique identifiers. ICANN doesn't control content on the Internet. It cannot stop spam and it doesn't deal with access to the Internet.
