AMMAN - HE The Italian Ambassador and HE Talal Abu-Ghazaleh held a meeting in preparation of the forthcoming opening of “The Italian Archeological Consortium in Jordan”.  The new office, which will be hosted at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University Building in Shmeisani, will provide support for the Italian Archaeological Missions in Jordan. The Italian Archeological Missions in Jordan have a long history of Academic research and success and are among the most valuable resources regarding the protection of the Jordanian Archeological Heritage.

The opening of the Italian Archeological Consortium sets a new milestone for the commitment of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh towards the Historical Heritage and the promotion of the Cultural Tourism in Jordan. The new office will work on implementing a yearly calendar of activities in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Amman, in order to reach a better coordination among Italian and International missions, under the guidance and control of the relevant Jordanian Authorities.

On the occasion of the meeting, HE The Italian Ambassador presented to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh the book “Precious waters”, published by Universita’ La Sapienza of Rome, containing the proceedings of last year’s conference organized by the Italian Embassy with the professors that are leading the Italian Archeological Missions in Jordan.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed enthusiasm to host the joint initiative on the Italian Archeological Consortium in Jordan and was delighted to be informed of more future plans for Jordan’s archeological heritage thanks to great donations and support from the Italian government, which will further strengthen the excellent relations between the two countries. He also received with great pleasure the book and he will be presenting a copy of the book to His Holiness Pope Francesco as he received the honor of an audience with His Holyness at the Vatican. The book will be launched on October 19th 2017 at TAG-Knowledge Forum during the opening ceremony of the inauguration of the Archeological Consortium’s office and the annual roundtable.
