Abu-Ghazaleh Receives His Highness Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Al-Khalifa Award for Volunteer Work as a Representative of Jordan

CAIRO - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh has been selected as a recipient of His Highness Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Al-Khalifa Award for Volunteer Work and was honored for being one of the pioneers of Arab volunteering work representing Jordan.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh received the award during a special ceremony organized at the Arab League General Secretariat headquarters marking the seventh round of the award. The prestigious event was held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Arab League Secretary-General HE Mr. Ahmed Abou El Gheit, Chairman of Kuwait's International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq.

The award, organized by the Good Word Society in the Kingdom of Bahrain in collaboration with Arab Union for Voluntary Work (AUVW) and under the patronage of the Arab League, was established to honor individuals and organizations around the world that have served humanity in a profound way through volunteering and social work on all levels. A person  from each Arab country is selected to be honored with the award.

Abu-Ghazaleh was selected by the award organizing committee this year to be honored as a representative of Jordan in recognition of his effective and leading role in serving society, as well as his volunteering and humanitarian contribution in all fields.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh voiced his pride and honor at being selected for the award as a representative of Jordan. He emphasized that all his volunteering efforts are just a duty towards society which has supported him and stood by his side throughout his career. 

He also applauded the role of the Good Word Society in the Kingdom of Bahrain for disseminating volunteering culture and highlighting its role in the comprehensive development of Arab societies, in addition to supporting social responsibility endeavors of the private sector, as well as contributing to directing Arab youth capabilities to serve their societies and instilling the love of volunteer work. 

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization Egypt Office Executive Director, Ms. Sherine El-Maghraby, received the award on behalf of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh.

Eighteen Arab figures were honored during the ceremony in recognition of their volunteering contributions on the national, regional and Arab levels, their keenness to transfer their experience, attract and train volunteers, as well as the community issues they adopted over the years along with their scientific contributions, innovative and creative ideas and projects in the volunteering field.
