IP for Social Good

IP Australia is pleased to release its IPAVentures latest concept piece, “IP for Social Good,” which delves into how the IP system could be leveraged to advance social good in Australia, or more broadly.

This piece explores research around three major concepts to question and consider whether the future IP system could potentially play a role in:

• increasing the volume and quality of social innovation
• amplifying positive social impact, and
• minimizing potential harm from innovation.

This publication does not represent an official stance by IP Australia. It is an exploratory piece of work, and IP Australia encourages all individuals to think about what the appropriate boundaries for IP Australia’s role might be.

The Office encourages all to read IP for Social Good: Balancing economic and social aims and consider the possibilities of using the IP system to amplify social good, and what nudges could be added to reduce social harms.
