LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced its participation in a week of Internet-related activities in Ottawa and Toronto, Canada, from October 18 – 25, 2024, a press release stated by ICANN.

On October 18, 2024, ICANN's Technical Engagement Team will collaborate with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) to deliver a special training session for young students in Ottawa, Canada. This training is designed to provide an engaging introduction to the workings of the Internet, with a focus on the Domain Name System and routing. The session will include a lab exercise where students can gain hands-on experience and better understand the technical aspects of the Internet. Additionally, the training will explore various career options within the information technology field, helping students to envision future opportunities in this dynamic sector.

Huberman and Antoniello will also deliver a technical tutorial during the 92nd North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG) meeting to be held in Toronto, Canada, from October 21 – 23, 2024. Their tutorial will focus on the Resource Public Key Infrastructure, which is a framework designed to enhance the security of the Border Gateway Protocol used to route Internet traffic between different networks.

The week's activities will culminate with the American Registry for Internet Numbers' (ARIN) 54th meeting, held in Toronto from October 24 – 25, 2024.

On October 24, 2024, ICANN will co-host a roundtable with CIRA, bringing together representatives from a diverse range of stakeholder groups to engage in a meaningful dialogue and contribute towards shaping future Internet policies and frameworks. The roundtable, to be held in Ottawa, Canada, aims to provide a platform for an in-depth assessment of critical global initiatives, focusing on the Summit of the Future and the Global Digital Compact, as well as exploring the future of Internet governance (IG) in the context of the World Summit on the Information Society: 20-year review (WSIS+20).
