LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is proud to present the first cohort of recipients in the inaugural cycle of the ICANN Grant Program. The recipients were selected through an extensive review process, in which all grant applications were rigorously evaluated in accordance with criteria enumerated in the Grant Program Applicant Guide, according to the official website of ICANN. 

In this first cycle of funding, the ICANN Board approved a slate of 23 projects, all of which aim to produce creative and innovative solutions that further ICANN's vision of a single, open, globally interoperable Internet. A list of all 23 projects will be made available on the Grant Program website in the coming weeks.

About ICANN Grant Program Recipients

All ICANN regions are represented in this first distribution of Grant Program funding. 

The inaugural cycle of the ICANN Grant Program will distribute approximately $10 million to support projects whose objectives reflect the Grant Program's purpose and support ICANN's overall mission. ICANN will monitor the funded projects throughout the course of the grants and provide periodic updates on the program and its impact.

We estimate the Grant Program will distribute over $200 million in funding by the end of the program's lifetime.
