RIYADH - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), participates in the 66th Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO: Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 8 to 17, 2025. The Saudi delegation is headed by the CEO of SAIP, Dr. Abdulaziz AlSwailem, with several other officials from SAIP, a press release stated by the Authority. 

In his opening speech, Dr. AlSwailem congratulated the Director General and supported the Asia and the Pacific Group (APG)'s statement. He praised the Riyadh Design Law Treaty Adoption at the Diplomatic Conference with 151 countries participating, calling it a landmark milestone.

He announced key Saudi intellectual property developments, including depositing accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement in January, launching operations as an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority, and introducing a Mediation Service for intellectual property disputes.

Dr. AlSwailem highlighted the Saudi Fund-in-Trust (SAFIT) activation to support developing countries’ intellectual property capabilities building. He noted the Kingdom's successful proposal for an annual Intellectual Property Examiner Day to celebrate on November 11th and submitted a new proposal for examiner professional ethics guidelines.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of adopting Arabic as a working language in Madrid and Hague systems to promote multilingualism and empower Arab nations.

Saudi Arabia joined WIPO in 1982, with SAIP's active membership enabling it to stay current with intellectual property developments across various fields.
