LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is extending the submission deadline for the New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program Applicant Support Program (ASP) to allow more time for applicants to complete the application process. Entities that enter organizational information in the system by November 19, 2025, will now have until December 19, 2025, to submit a complete application, a press release stated by ICANN.

Extending the application submission deadline will give ASP candidates more time to complete their application and to utilize available resources. Additionally, the one-month extension ensures ICANN org has sufficient time to prepare internally and externally to open the gTLD application window as planned.

The ASP application period was originally scheduled to close on 19 November 2025 to give supported applicants sufficient time to benefit from the nonfinancial assistance available to them. While ICANN is extending the deadline to 19 December 2025, it strongly encourages applicants to submit their completed ASP applications before 19 November.

Doing so gives each applicant the best chance of securing one of the 45 slots available for support. If an applicant does not enter organizational information in the system by 19 November 2025, they will be unable to proceed with their application in this round.

The ASP contributes to achieving the goals of the next round of new gTLD applications, namely increasing the diversity and utility of the Domain Name System. By providing financial and nonfinancial assistance to entities that otherwise lack the means to apply, the program focuses on bringing fresh voices to the domain name industry.
