MUNICH - Improved displays, downloadable citations (including multimedia citations), enhanced workflows, more options for self-management and access control designed to further enhance efficiency and usability of our online services, according to the official website of the European Patent Office (EPO).

As part of the European Patent Office’s (EPO) ongoing drive towards full digitalization of the patent granting process, the latest consolidated release for MyEPO highlights newly implemented functionalities as well as several recently introduced features that have been progressively rolled out.

Aligned with the EPO’s Strategic Plan 2028, these enhancements reflect our ongoing focus on user-friendliness and efficiency, offering an increasingly seamless digital experience.

Highlights of recently implemented MyEPO features

Enhanced patent application view with new panels displaying citations and bibliographic data

Cited literature (under the EPC and PCT) is now conveniently displayed in a dedicated panel within each patent application or patent view. This new panel offers also access to non-patent literature (NPL) including multimedia citations such as audio or video clips. All citations are easily downloadable directly from the panel.

Citations listed in the panel are accessible only to parties to the respective proceedings. Parties not using MyEPO will continue to receive NPL citations on paper, with access to multimedia citations via the URL provided in the search report.

For full information, please consult the Notice from the European Patent Office concerning the accessibility of captured multimedia citations in the digital file of MyEPO (OJ EPO 2025, A41).

Similarly, bibliographic data for patent applications are now presented in their own dedicated panel, with editing rights available to authorized users (for pilot users only)

Language and scope expansion for the Legal Interactive Platform

The Legal Interactive Platform, the AI-based legal search tool allowing to explore legal information in an innovative, efficient and focused way, is now available in French and German, with its scope extended to include

Unitary Patent Guidelines

Improved workflows for preparing actions and requests

The “draft” stage can now be set back to “Not started”
Draft requests relating to applications can now be deleted

Expanded access control

Company administrators can now assign professional representatives as mailbox recipients via the company member's view
Members of the representing party with portfolio access may now perform additional tasks such as requesting change or withdrawal of representation, withdrawing the application and editing bibliographic data
The Admin area includes a new "Team" functionality allowing company administrators to assign individual company members to specific patent applications (search or examination phase) (for pilot users only)
Extended self-management
The account settings page has been redesigned for better usability
Self-representing applicants and proprietors can now request change of representation
